Just seen in this month's Museums Journal that Leicester County Council Museums have a Finnish coach up for disposal, free of charge, ex-Snibston Museum. I presume it is this one:

Anybody know any preservation groups in Finland who might be interested? I hate to say it but I doubt she has much of a future in the UK!

the price is right, it would make excellent premises for a model railway club or restaurant. It's almost useless in the UK as a coach. Several preserved ion Finland already I see.

is it possible to re bogie it with standard gauge bogies, i'm assuming that somewhere like the Nene Valley may possibibly be able to offer a suitable home? i'm assuming also that the coach body isnt wider than simular Danish vehicles

The NVR is moving towards a 1950s BR scene so a Finnish coach that needs regauging will probably not be a priority interest for them.

That would go well with our Norwegian Statsbane up in Fife, our platforms already been re-gauged to accommodate the wider body!!!

On the contrary, the continental image is still alive and well. The Belgian coaches have had over 250k spent overhauling them over the last few years. The Danish coaches require some work to them, admittedly, the polish tank is away for a contract overhaul and is due to return next year. I believe work on 656, the Danish tank should begin again shortly I understand.

Regauging to standard would not be too difficult I'm lead to believe, it would probably involve obtaining a set of bogies from Scandinavia. That being said, with the ongoing other works at the railway, it would probably be spreading resources to thin at the moment (my personal view, not necessarily railway policy).

As explained to me, the NVR's longer term aims are to rely less on the continental stuff and focus more on the 1950s BR era,

I'm really glad to hear that. I know that the NVR faces the same challenges as any railway when it comes to keeping things operational, but personally I love the continental stock, and I'd love to see more of it running.

Oh how boring the continental image to my mind is what sets the railway apart from the rest.

Each to their own but without the funds to restore the Swedish locos and the Danish tank some time away from completion, they're rather short of continental motive power pro tem.
IMO continental locos look better in their country of origin. I'd much prefer to see a Sedish Class B in Sweden than in Cambridgeshire.
