Michael Bailey and Peter Davidson discuss the findings of their "dig" on the preserved locomotive "Invicta"

""Invicta" ran on the Canterbury and Whitstable Raiilway and then was "refurbished" a couple of times and sat outside Canterbury City Walls for many years. Michael and Peter carried out an "Archaeological Dig" to show what parts came from the engine's different periods of use and display. Watch the "Newcomen Shed" presentation to find out:"

Michael Bailey authored a work reviewing the surviving pre 1850's locomotives and replicas based on them which I would recommend to anyone interested in the era: 'Loco Motion: The World's Oldest Steam Locomotives' ( History Press 2014 ). It covers locomotives outside the British Isles in addition to the home based ones.
