According to the K&ESR timetable, there's a four train return service running for the Kids For A Quid week.
Any idea what's due to be rostered during that week? I might try and free some time if there's any chance of a Terrier running then.

I don't believe the Operating notice has been written for that week, yet. That will govern whether the B set will be the normal vintage set, or a strengthened set. If it is the normal set, then the engine would be a Terrier or Charwelton. A strengthened set would need the USA or the Pannier to be out. I'll see what I can find out asap.

If last year is anything to go by i would imagine that it would depend on what the loadings are on the day last year the week started with the b set and a small engine , but by the second day it needed a 5 reg loco its a pity we cant double head the strengthened set but economics would make it non viable on non gala days also i noticed that the other USA tank has now began to be stripped ready for overhaul because we need more larger locos to operate services than we currently have

Unfortunately Martin, the last quote I heard for the overhaul on Wainwright was 3-4 years due to the state of the bottom end. Northiam will return to service before too much longer, together with the Norwegian. If we get stuck, there's always the Class 14!

if its been fixed that is, the 14 seems to have taken over from the P class when it comes to deciding not to play , i was unaware of the state of the bottom end of Wainwright, i wonder could 4253 beat her into service? i would not bet against it

With less than a week to go, has there been any indication yet?

As far as I know it'll be 1638 and No 23. If either of those is not available it will be No 65. No DMMU as it's being painted so unusually for this time of year a two steam service.

Fair play. Does this mean the two Terriers are out of use at the moment?

because the expected loadings might be greater than either of the Terriers or Charwelton can cope with i expect that its been decided to roster 2 of the larger engines , so that way if the B set has to be strenghtened it can

No, it's the two sets booked for the Thomas event at the weekends running all week. With the vintage set either under maintenance or split up for Thomas it makes sense to stick with the same stock and engines. All the little locos are currently winterised as well.
