This vessel, the last surviving landing craft from the D-Day landings in Normandy, is currently being raised from the bottom of Birkenhead Docks & being loaded onto a semi-submersible ship for transportation to Portsmouth & preservation.
Some good news from Birkenhead after the fiasco with H.M.S. 'Plymouth'.

There is a small craft, resembling a small LCT, on the marina adjacent to DSR's Kingwear station. If I am down there I will note its painted number.

Any idea whether her ultimate destination is the Historic Dockyard or the D-Day museum? She would look amazing on dry land with her hold filled with tanks as she was intended to be, but only a dry dock would do the job for her overhaul.

Following on from my post earlier I have now seen the craft at the Marina in Kingswear.

For those interested in this arena I post the details painted on the craft. The lettering is white, the craft a warship grey.

LPH-12-7 and there are also smaller details@ MC 1156 ST (ST being painted yellow).
