I would talk to the MHR Anthony. They like to use 30075 during steam galas and that coach would be a perfect running mate for it, as well as an interesting car to stick in a set. It could also in theory run as an extra vehicle for the Hants unit.

    Just a thought :)

It is - I'm not seeking to dispose, but lend it to someone who has a chance of doing just that with it.

The MHR had several Suburbian Mk1s when it first started to operate but over time these were replaced by the more operationally friendly tso stock ,The suburbian coaches might be good at moving lots of people but with so many potensial problems with restoring them not many railways would want to take any on, Restoring Mk1,s is hard enough as it is without all those doors and window problems

A lot of work would be needed to convert a std Mk1 suburban coach for use with a Hampshire unit. Change from vacuum to EP brakes, fit eth, fit various jumper cables etc. Also I would think the whole electrical system is different-power taken from the power unit instead of a belt driven dynamo.

Thanks and now I think of it, MHR are short of space anyway. Martin, would you not want it for the Folkestone project? Or shall I call in the scrappers? ;-)

The carriage and wagon workshop should be back in action for the end of March which will free up a bit of space on the MHR. That said we've already taken Cheltenham and Lord Nelson, we wouldnt want to end up emptying York now would we ;)

Anthony, how about the Strathspey? They have two and a third might encourage them to overhaul them. *ducks*

Anthony , by the time that the Folkestone project are in a position to even concider it, it would have most likily have reached the point of no return , i dont know if the KESR might be interested , have you asked GB? it might go quite well with our birdcage coach , especially with a black terrier at front

I'm pleased to report a significant development on the NNR/M&GN Society’s Suburban4 project to restore a rake of each type of surviving Mk1 Suburban design. Thanks to the generosity of the Heritage Transport Group formerly based at the Churnet Valley Railway the project has been donated two more coaches, SLO E48001 and S E46139. These two vehicles will take the place of two significantly worse vehicles in the project and this is expected to advance the project by several years. The coaches were moved to the NNR last week.

What are the plans for the 2 displaced vehicles Steve, will these become spares donors, or will they be disposed of?

We have a potential new home for some/all of them but can't say anymore at this time. However, they will not be scrapped.

My guess is a Llangollen one, given various members of staff and volunteer connections

Further to the last update I was guarding with said carriage today and it is carriage E46130. For those interested it should be in use again tomorrow.

Am I correct that the Epping coaches are the ones NNR didn't need beciase of the donation of a couple of better examples earlier this year?
