No I do not currently volunteer
Even if you only used it for a couple of days it would be good value.

I`m sure if SVR did something similar then I would drive more frequently from Somerset to Kidderminster.

There is the flexi-rover http://www.svr.co.uk/Fares.aspx but it is nowhere near as good value as the WSR ticket

Absolutely so. However, I would add, as you might expect me to, that IMHO this is a reason to be very cautious about extension projects.

An interesting thought for Heritage Lines to consider is a "Holiday Rover" valid for a period (e.g. 7 days) allowing either unlimited travel throughout the week OR so many days within week (e.g. any 4 days from a week) thus giving the incoming tourist both somewhere to go / something to do if the weather changes whilst giving the passenger(s) the option of using the railway to discover the area. A further thought is to link specific ticket types to price reductions on entrance fees within the area(s) to encourage both the railways commitment to the area in which it works and help the railway to be recognised for the valuable attraction that it is within the locale wherein it operates.

Some railways make it possible to break the journey and do/visit other things/places adjacent to the stations more than once in a day by virtue of their location and frequency of service. Others however can offer little more than a straight there and back trip with little to do at the far end other than to get back on the train.

These diffences don't seem to be reflected in the fares charged though

I really like the sound of a 'Holiday Rover' ticket for lines that are in tourist areas.
