The discussion in the B17 thread got me wondering: streamlining seems to have been mainly applied to pacifics. Which makes sense, they were the locos the big four used on their prestigious express routes, the ones essentially used to get attention and sell the company.

But aside from the couple of streamlined B17s, did many other non-pacifics ever get (either from new or rebuild) streamlining?

The Schools is probably a bit of a marginal case - really just a mockup, though technically it did make one mainline run plus some movements round the works.

The LNER built streamlined 2-8-2s (P2) and a 4-6-4 (or is it a 4-6-2-2?) (class W, later rebuilt, but still streamlined).

Forgot about those, my mind had gone in the direction of smaller rather than larger.

This has got to be one of the few applications of Baker valve gear outside the USA. Are there any others?

The South Australian 620 class Pacifics had Baker valve gear. 621 is still operational with SteamRanger on the Victor Harbour line.

I believe the streamline design of the A4's and the other LNER streamliners did make a significant contribution towards reducing power requirements at speed. (350 hp @ 90 mph sticks in my memory but happy to be told that's rubbish.) Did any other so-called streamline design save on power requirements or was it mainly a publicity thing?
