Talking of getting back on track........

With stuff all on the box last night, I had a trawl through the archive & happened upon this from 2009 - when she was basically fresh out the box.

Had a mad weekend Oop North - saw both runs that weekend - got soaked to the skin at Hellifield on the Saturday - went over to the KWVR after - then back to Horton for a mad night in the pub watching the Crag Rats crawl in & Sunday witnessed her over Ribblehead before getting her at Appleby & then had the long drive back Darn Sarf - got home in the early hours of Monday morning shattered, but happy!

 

Running in light engine on the NVR today in between Flying Scotsman doing runs for Just Go! Photo on the NVR thread.

 

Out and about at NVR again today. Should be arriving at Wansford about now.

SRPS Railtours website is now saying that Forth Circle tours on 13th October have been cancelled.

The exact wording is

We have been informed that repairs to Tornado have not been completed in time.

We are pleased to advise that with thanks to the A1SLT. A1 No 60163 Tornado will be hauling our services on Sunday 7th October. Services start at 10:00 from Wansford on our Blue Timetable. Normal fares apply. www.nvr.org.uk

 

Rather like "Bonus 60009 Sunday"?

 

Obviously disappointing that the tours have been cancelled, but it brings a smile to one's face to see the photographs of 60103 and 60163 running together most recently.

I am looking forward to booking onto a tour for next year behind Big T.

 

I wish it'd bring a smile to Mrs V's face.........she's still got the hump because her day out to Scotland on The Auld Reekie has got the chop.

 

My Missis also still has the 'hump' over not going to Chester, then not going to Edinburgh.
(perhaps if there were less projects on the go . . . . ........)

 

Perhaps a couple of 'Not to be Hump Shunted' t-shirts are required

 

Once stuck "not to be loose or hump shunted" on the side of one of those industrial wheelie bins at work.... (oddly enough, I can still remember fly-shunting being performed in the mid-70s)

It was certainly being done at Peterborough in the mid-70s

 

Tornado will now be hauling services on the 10th on the NVR, but not to/from Yarwell. (why?)

The NVR car park was stuffed full when I went at lunchtime: the sold-out cream tea service was probably why!

 

Does anyone know if Tornado has departed the NVR yet, or done the loaded night-time run?

 

Headshunt is too tight for an A1 to run round at Yarwell.

 

Ah, thank you - knew someone would know the answer!

So is an A1 that much bigger than a BB then?

 

Tightness of the pointwork rather than length isn't it?

 

Either way, she doesn't go to Yarwell.
