I understand from flyers on yesturdays Carlisle tour that 60163 is visiting the Tyseley open weekend in June.

 

Now that Tornado has got a reasonable amount of miles under her belt and reading this months Railway Magazine about the special run to Edinburgh. Should the top speed of Tornado be increased so she can keep to a modern day time table? There must be a good argument to say yes. Be that the loco is built to modern day standards and every part of the loco is new.

All modern traction and replicas should be allowed to run at the speed it they were built for.

I have just added a twelve photo collection of the "New Construction" Peppercorn development Pacific Class A1 4-6-0 60163 TORNADO as she hauled the "Severn Coast Express" made up of ten coaches, plus her support coach and a Type 67 diesel 67002 on the rear, into Bishops Lydeard on the West Somerset Railway, on the early evening of Saturday 30th.May.2009. Here she stopped off to take on water before continuing on to Minehead and to start her two week "Guest" apperance on the WSR.

The sound of TORNADO as she pulled the train away from Bishops Lydeard, I can only describe as "awesome".
WSR are really onto a crowd pulling apperance of this locomotive, and good luck to them.:smt023 I shall be revisiting during the next two weeks, thats for sure.

I agree great photos, I'm going back to the WSR tomorrow(Weds) for more photographs and to be hauled by TORNADO. Great to see 5101 Class 2-6-2T 4160, looking forward to seeing her back in steam.
