I'm pretty sure the only possibly affordable solution would be to reopen the crossing. IIRC this was once thought to be unfeasible due to highway...

I concur. Reams of stuff on the difficulties of squeezing x, y and z onto the loco, but unfortunately I’ve never seen a schematic of how all work...

I’m 99% sure it doesn’t. AFAIK it sets target speeds based on line limit and traffic ahead etc. I guess if the driver exceeds the target speed it...

Assume it will be partnered by an ETCS fitted 37 then? Both as a chaperone in case the ETCS doesn’t work, and to save burning mid Wales to the ground?
