I'm off on one of my roadtrips next week. My itinery is Talylyn/Festiniog/WHR/Bala/Llangollen/W&Llanfair/SVR diesel gala/G&WR/SVR again/Welshpool again/VoR/Gwlii. Anything I am missing in those general areas?

(the repeated visits are due to many places not being open on the Monday

 

Fairbourne! Who else offers the opportunity of a train ride and a boat trip!

 

It doesn't appeal to me I'm afraid....maybe I'm really missing out?

Depends where you are but possibly the Pontypool and also Dean forest if your at the GWSR

 

Perhaps you could consider stopping off at the Teifi Valley Railway whilst en route to the Gwili? An update of what is going on re its regeneration would be appreciated by many readers.

 

I've looked at all of them but unfortunately none of them are open on the available day in my schedule. I will look in at the Dean Forest quite possibly as their shop/café will be open and I will be more or less passing the Teifi so I may look in to see if anything is happening

Well I'm home and will load some photo later. Managed Talylynn WHR and Festiniog twice each,a glimpse of Llangollen, a fantastic 16 mile round trip on the end balcony at Welshpool (a really underrated line....recommended) Severn Valley diesel gala one two days, looked in at Bala and Corris (both closed) VoR and Gwlii (Teifi closed ,in fact locked the gate as I arrived )
