Although it could be inspected at Bury before the le move. I'm sure Mr Riley and his team are able to sign off the loco as ftr. There is logic in the suggestion of a loaded run immediately after the le move and it has happened once before iirc. The only obstacle may be restrictions due to fire risk if they are in force. Obviously having diesel assistance would be self defeating for proving purposes.

 

WCRC action is no criticism of Ian Riley, simply a case of having standards and ensuring that they're met as the A1 Society found out when 60163 Tornado was under negotiation.

 

You wouldn't even accept a new car without looking it over and checking all the bits were in the right place would you?!

Also there are some bits of the engine you can no doubt not look at unless its cold...

 

As it will be WCR who are moving it from Bury to carnforth in the first place one would assume they will do all necessary inspections way before she gets to carnforth.

 

A qualified WCR FTR Examiner was carrying out the FTR today so if any issues arose then they would have been dealt with already. Otherwise 34046 will not be going tomorrow so if she's Fit To Run then she will be going to the ball!

 

Railway Herald has confirmed what appears to be pretty much a steam ban across the country now, although the Scarboro' Spa and tomorrow's Fellsman will be running with steam, albeit with a diesel tucked immediately behind. I guess we'll soon find out what effect this will have on the proposed movements for Braunton.

 

Something is currently running on the path for Braunton, guess it'll be Braunton, but will it have a box, hopefully not as it won't be under any load.

 

The big WCR test loop has also been activated for today, so guess it's most likely that Braunton is doing the loaded test run today, guess with diesel in tow.

A friend has just sent a nice pic of 34046 near Wilpshire. Some good clag so wonder how hard she was working.

 

Wherever they are short if a steam loco for a diesel to propel around.

 

Well she is due to be based at Bristol for the Torbay Expresses in August (shared with 5029). Expect a move south soon !

 

Mentioned elsewhere that all testing is done & signed off fit for service. As gwr4090 says it is now waiting to move South.

 

Anyone know what the first rail tour 34046 will work?
