The engine is scheduled to run until Sunday 12th (no service friday) when it will be stopped and all the nighles that appear with a 'new' loco can be sorted.
I've had one day driving her and she certainly wants to take off - just as you get to 25 ! Didn't think coal consumption was overly heavy for the grate size but was surprised at water consumption. As people have said, our fireman are still getting used to the Bulleid free steaming boiler. (As an aside, with the 625 ton Saturday night train she had a proper main line sizefire, making steam against full reg and two water feeds on at one point. Fair play to dan, only 19 but probably his firing pinicle!)

No I do not currently volunteer
Perhaps someone should send them some info?
To be fair, there isn't much more than very summary info about most of P&O's actual ships, presumably for reasons of space, given the huge number they had over the years.

Magnificent locomotive. The GWSR website comments that the engine's name is possibly the longest carried by a british steam locomotive.

In full the name has 42 characters, including allowing three for "&" .

There was an LNER V2 class loco named as follows: " The Snapper The East Yorkshire Regiment The Duke Of York's Own " which has 51 characters.

Is there a longer still name? (Discounting 46100's commemorative nameplate, which has an explanation of it's American visit thereon.)

If you'd read the thread I came up with a 68-character name earlier (66 if the brackets don't count).
