Doubt it very much as the increased WCML occupancy will require routeing via Hellifield and the consequent reversal at Blackburn; more likely methinks to be a suitable route for ELR-based traction.

That as well but I was looking at via chorley, Bolton, Manchester Rochdale Blackburn Hellifield. Interesting and varied circuit.
Another option using the Blackburn Bolton route.

I hope this doesn't mean even less of northbound steam over Shap.

No I do not currently volunteer
No I don't think so, it's more of a round trip like the ill fated Cotton Mill Express, only perhaps a bit longer, continuing from Hellifield to Carnforth with a quick blast down the WCML to finish.

You forget that Rochdale to Blackburn involves the (new) Todmorden curve, Copy Pit and then when running into Blackburn a reversal (i.e. tender first running) to reach Hellifield via the Ribble Valley. Now if you run Bolton - Blackburn direct then you are facing the right way to proceed to Carnforth but if you use the Todmorden curve then you are facing west towards Preston - not east towards Hellifield - when you arrive at Blackburn.

    That is good.

Again, I think the Jubs shall be the busy ones out of Carnforth once 5690 is also out. I'm really excited about those prospects. A jubilee is pretty darn spectacular over Beattock as well but in a different way.

    Thanks

Quite so Fred. Hopefully 45699 will get to use all routes often.

The route could be done as a figure of 8 ie Manchester, Rochdale, Blackburn, Preston, Carnforth, Hellifield, Blackburn, Manchester.

What sort of mileage would that be? Dare say a weekly season could be filled quite well. A leisurely dining experience too.
That sort of trip would be ideal for moguls inc 76084 ex Lower Darwen if the owners proceed with certification.
ELR would appear to offer a good base too. Better get that Crab certified but we've gone a bit off topic.

Not sure but there's an hst in soon. 5407 went to Blackpool and back many years ago; 40145 has had an outing or 2.

Could be a nice leisurely day out with smaller motive power.

I had a recent N-P enquiry about our "Galatea" models. We still have a few left and will be attending at Barrow Hill with a sales stand next weekend. (cross refer to Industrial Locomotive Updates thread). When they are gone, that's it. If any Nat Pres members are there we will be delighted to see them.

It's just the usual problem with Stanier engines: blowing taps, or cylinder drain cocks to most people.

Usually just requires a clout with a suitable implement but not easily done once you are on the move and you don't know until you come to shut them!
