Where is it listed as for sale ? It is owned by a group fronted by Ken Ryder who are hoping to restore it for use on the Cambrian Railway once that is reopened. They still retained this intention last year when a party made an enquiry as to its present situation.

i quite fancy the 03, the tamper, the two GWR coaches and possibly the saddletank, dont think we'd have much use for a hall!

I wonder what good Isabel would be to most preserved lines? Would it be able to haul a couple of MK1's easily or not? Would it be a popular loco or being an industrial be jerky to ride at any real speed as a lot of crews/passengers seem to feel?
Just curious, the condition of the hall doesn't seem too bad, and the 03 looks very attractive even to a steam nut...here's to a lotto win!

Im sure some of the smaller lines would bite your arm off for something like Isabel. Ideal little engine for a couple of coaches on a reasonable run. Never had the pleaseure of riding on on H-L before so not sure what the rides are like. Of course it would have to be painted black and have a fake BR number. (runs for cover)

Anyone know what sort of condition its in?

i saw isabel a few years ago when she was based at the swindon and cricklade (i'm sure it was isabel, my mistake if it wasn't), she seemed at ease pulling a couple of mk 1's there. the tanfield's stagshaw is of a similar design and never struggled on the banks. i'm trying to remember where isabel has been since the S&C, but she would certainly be a very useful engine for most small lines.

After a bit of research i've found that Isabel saw use on the cambrian santa trains handling a one coach train this christmas and was preserved at Radstock at the aborted S&D preservation attempt.
Seems to be a useful locomotive that by the looks of it could do a smaller line wonders...East Somerset maybe?

Looking through the stock list advertisement brings back some memories! Pretty well all of Ken Ryder's rolling stock shown there, plus Odney and Ditcheat Manor (which his group also then owned) were based at Toddington on the Glos Warks Rly until around 1986. Cogan Hall departed from Barry Scrapyard to Toddington in September 1981 and was cosmetically restored. I believe it has also been on display at Swindon at some stage. I don't know how good a condition 5952 is in but it has been "protected" for quite a while. I expect that there is quite a cache of spares for it too (at least I would hope so for £40K). It would be good if the 2 ex-GWR coaches went to the WSR project but perhaps some of the stock might yet return to Toddington! Regrettably, I don't think I could stretch to the Hall at the moment (or ever!) but maybe one of the smaller wagons?

What does this mean for the Cambrian Railways Trust - has there been a falling out? This looks like a large amount of their rolling stock, if Isabel is sold they will have no steam loco.

I'd be surprised if the West Somerset weren't casting eyes at this Hall.
