From this week's GCR newsletter:- Shed News
Sir Lamiel is proving rather resistant to completion after the replacement of the two flue
tubes, but the team felt on Wednesday that they were nearly there. In fact when I left a fire
had been lit to do the steam test. If all goes well, then it could just be ready for running at
the weekend, but no promises as usual! There is the little matter of a missing tender, but
this is due back at base imminently.
For some reason we have three locos rostered in steam at the weekend, and all sorts of
interesting permutations to think about. Again on Wednesday, there was news of the
Caprotti Standard 5 being on the road from Butterley, now if that was ready it would be a
mini Gala. Anyway, the pool from which we will select three also includes the Ivatt and
Standard 2s, the Red 8, and maybe even the 3F ‘Jinty’ with its new brick arch.
