Joshua must have the real one as Matt is hanging out of the cab window on his avatar. Or perhaps Matt has just done his front window up to impress the neighbours :-k

You're right, that's got no side rails on the tender.

Can anyone please explain WHY this thread was closed and locked (with no real explanation) and then, equally mysteriously, has now re-appeared again?
Indeed, has anyone out there now got anything of substance to add? (and I don't mean toy trains, this time!)

Instead of guessing at whether a story may be developing, how about we just wait and see, i'm sure Mr Riley would reveal all if anything changed, but as Frank reported from the works, it hasn't. As you were gents !

Anyway, back to the highly detailed, fully accurate scale models \:D/ \:D/

    P.S.

AT 80 QUID IT AINT NO TOY !!!!!!

So I wonder why an '0' gauge black 5 costs more than 10 times that. :-k I think you've got a bargain Matt.

I know this will probably be moved to the model section but worth an ask whilst all these model pictures are flying round.

I have the earlier version of the bachman model, does anyone know where to get the right crests?

what colour currently are 76079s timken tender bearing covers? yellow or black? i know they were yellow and the current model portrays them as such but i could have sworn when i saw it at grosmont a couple of months back they were black.

Ive got the air pump on and the air pipes/steam heat gear, but does anyone know if someone produces coal rails for the tender or am i looking at scratchbuilding out of plasticard? Fitting the low level fillers tonight \:D/

The owner of the locomotive says it has NOT been sold. Anything can happen in the future.

A news article in the lastest SR says that 76079 is on verge of being sold by Ian Riley. Nothing will be confirmed until the deal has gone through. Also states that nothing wiill happen until 76079's stint on the Cambrian finishes at the end of August.

    Well ... there you go!
And, just for the record, my "editorial staff" contact that I alluded to, does NOT work for "SR".
I will now repeat, I guess it's now only a matter of time before we shall know the facts ... if there are any.

SR being the most reliable source of heritage railway info on the planet of course. Given their track record of bloopers I wouldn't take too much notice of what is printed. They may be right, they may be wrong. Either way we'll know soon enough.

Dont get me wrong SR are so much more imformative then the loco owners themselfs ... ](*,) But maybe its worth listerning to riley and maybe just wait too see. At the end of the day , its no ones bussiness if Riley wants to sell it to john smith in cornwall or some wired scotsman .

Before the latest round of SR bashing kicks off maybe it should be noted that Mr Riley himself has been quoted in the article as saying, "We havent received a definite yes from the party in question, but we are expecting to hear for certain before the end of the summer. Nothing will happen until after the 'Cambrian season has finished..." There is never any smoke without fire and I would be pretty suprised if we don't see 76079 on the NYMR as an NYMR owned loco by the end of the year. Personally I hope I am wrong. As SR states in Down Main despite the Cambrian steam being likely to able to occur next year (with ERTMS issues looking resolved) it will be pretty difficult without 76079 -it's the only loco passed for Barmouth bridge...

I hope when this issue is resolved one way or the other, those whose views turned out to wrong may admit their error, or should I think 'snowball' and 'hell' being nearer the mark. :-k

So SR knows more about what's happening with a loco than the owner of said loco.?
May I suggest that you visit another forum where the owner is more than willing to explain what is happening to the loco's he owns.
    Unsubstantiated rumours are exactly that.

Not necessarily, if WCRC offer enough as a hire fee and possibly a loco to sub on the NYMR, it could be difficult to turn down, keep in mind it's all hypothetical currently, though it's the sort of situation where looking at Mainlining another Standard 4 would be prudent.

Edit: if 76079 is so vital to the Cambrian operation it makes you wonder if indeed Mr Smith might show an interest ?.
