    Evening All,

I photographed a vintage American aeroplane last year but have no idea what it was. It was taking part in the Bournemouth Air Show and I saw it whilst on a trip boat on the Lymington River. There are two pictures on my Flickr site and this is the first one :

Clicking on the picture will enlarge it and take you to the Flickr site and the other picture.

I'm hoping that someone will know what it is.

I've just been advised that it's a B17G Flying fortress.

Yes. It's the Sally B based at Duxford. Currently caries the markings of the immortal Memphis Belle.

Does she still carry the single chequerboard cowling that she was known for in years gone?

She does indeed. I believe that it's in memory of the chap who originally saved her. His widow - the real Sally B - is the person who keeps her going.

Elly Sallingboe is the lady and Ted White is the gentleman commemorated by the chequerboard on the cowling.
