Bahn-Nostalgie Thüringen

I know a few people on here have travelled on their railtours, usually 41.1144-9 on the Rodelblitz from Eisenach to Oberhof and Arnstadt. It was announced yesterday that, after 23 years, the local authority Free State of Thüringa, have pulled funding for next year. So that looks like the end of €25, 150 mile railtours sadly. Shame, as they're really good tours, decent timings, decent routes. The Rodelblitz carries a couple of thousand of passengers up to Oberhof every winter for the snow, people who either won't go or will go by car instead.

 

Do you have a news story about that at all? I want to share it to the ERG mailing list.

IGE Werrabahn Eisenach aiming to run their own Rodelblitz specials on 28/29 January and 4/5 February next year. Same loco, stock, timetable and format as before. More details including prices in December.
