Has it been confirmed that Furness 20 is facing north.

Got an email in the Bluebell Yahoo group from Jon Bowers offering a photo charter with No 20 and the 4 wheelers, saying that it is expected to face North.

Is there any particular reason for this? I can't think of any other line that doesn't offer the same range of tickets "on the day" as via advanced purchase. The Bluebell also seems to have a far earlier cut off date for advance purchase tickets (nearly five weeks before the event) than other lines.

A positive development. Full gala timetables have been published on the new Bluebell website and are available for download. Included loco and stock rosters as well as shunting notes.

The shunting notes for Sundays also include details of the cavelcade for those who want to catch it.

That is indeed what I was told, but as past experience has shown you can't be sure until the loco is off the low loader ;-)

    Cheers,
    Jon

Now booked up for the 3 days. Can't wait. (Also I recently bought at the Bluebell Open Day Michael Welchs new Bluebell book covering the line from 1960 to 2009 and It is a work of art with brilliant pictures most of which I have never seen and does cover each year)

The publishing of the rosters is good news and one that I wasn't expecting from the Bluebell. My one complaint (and I haven't had the opportunity to go through the full notes yet) is that Baxter only appears to be carriage shunter at Horstead Keynes. I know of several people who were lining up especially to go for this loco - what chance that we could have her on the Ardingly branch stub shuttles - she is vac fitted after all.

    Cheers

She's not vac fitted quite yet I'm afraid. For reasons unknown to me it was decided to launch her into traffic and then fit steam heat and vac brakes some point after.

Having read the feature in Steam Railway about the event, the brake van shuttles will be run by Blue Circle and there will be access to the new carriage shed (which by the way is making terrific progress)

I should be going to this event, but is there anyway to get to back to East Grinstead station from Kingscote after the 1641 473 Service, in time for the 18:37 ex East Grinstead, like leaving Kingscote at around 1740 - 1800 etc?

    Many thanks

The 473 bus is operating between East Grinstead and Kingscote on all three days. However I can't find the time of the last bus.

If necessary, there are two mini-cab offices in East Grinstead. The station staff at Kingscote will know the telephone numbers of both, and can even telephone for a taxi on your behalf. The taxi fare will cost you about £7.50p.

A mate of mine saw a "brown" loco on a low loader heading south past Newark earlier today. Possibly no.20 on its way?
