Chinnor - 17th April

Any idea what's rostered to be working on this day ? their website is extremely vague other than saying a service is operating, not even sure if it's steam or diesel, hoping for 9682 mind.

 

Definately won't be 9682 as I helped remove the final tubes out of the boiler a couple of weeks ago at Southall. She is having her 10 year overhaul done and should be back at Chinnor soon. The frames are parked outside the lifting shop at Southall and visible from passing mainline trains. I think 1369 is on hire to Chinnor for the season but stand to be corrected.

 

Best add out of date to the website as well as vague given 9682 is listed as operational!, 1369 would be a more than satisfactory sub mind.

 

Here are a few pictures of 9682's overhaul to date. The boiler had been detubed and the axleboxes removed for inspection. The smokebox ring is being replaced and the safety valves have been removed for attention.

Just to clarify I have nothing to to with Chinnor - GWRPG are the owners of the loco and are doing the overhaul at Southall.

 

I think you can be reasonably sure that if steam is rostered 1369 will be the CPPR's loco for the remainder of the year.

That's just the thing, can find no mention of whether the service on the day is steam or diesel.

17th April is a blue day, which is a diesel service acording to the website.
