I have been asked by a friend if I have a list of this collection.

I have searched this forum without success.

If it has appeared here perhaps somebody could point me in the right direction,
or indicate where else I may look.

I know it's not always the most reliable of sources (that said I use it a lot and find it an incredibly valuable source) but Wikipedia has a section on it with a list of lots of the locomotives included.

These are not the locos you are looking for.

Depends what you are refering to as "Collection X"?
The wikipedia article on the Phyllis Rampton Narrow Gauge Trust has been trimmed in recent times to cover only the nineteen locos declared as being owned by the Vale of Rheidol Railway (owned by the PRNGT) and have been seen in public in recent times.

The more interesting locomotives that have been traditionally associated with the Trust, which are in fact owned privately by a Trustee (several Indian locos, various Spanish locos, SAR Garratt & NG15, the unique Avonside Heisler, Bowater's Conqueror etc.) have been removed from the Wikipedia list. I have found that if you probe the "View History" tab and select an edit that occured before February 2008 you will find a complete list if you then scroll to the bottom of the page - but be warned there is a disclaimer that even that list is based on unofficial sources.

I would guess the only reliable lists are confidential, since the owners of this collection like to guard their privacy.

Buy the IRS Industrial Locomotives handbook, 16EL. Not much escapes that...although some does ;-)

This is very useful as well, I certainly have a formidable list now.

    Many thanks.

There is a photo on P162 of LG Marshalls "La Via Estrecha Espanola" of two locomotives from Spain being unloaded at London docks for a private collection in England, i Wonder if these were for the collection X and are they still there
Uploaded with ImageShack.us ? Sorry for the bad scan.[IMG]

These are two really good looking locomotives in my humble opinion, what a shame they are hidden away.

They have owned the land for some time, but needed to finish upgrading VoR track etc before going on to the museum. Should be good once it is done. I don't know how much will end up there, but a substantial amount of the collection is what I was lead to believe.

I think you will find VoR company owns 30 plus locomotives all of which were transfered out of the PRNGRT many years ago. The trust now only own the shares in the VoR company. Peter Rampton (Chairman of the VoR) has his own collection of locomotives which are entirely separate from the VoR. It is just completing a 1.6 million pound conservation workshop so I would have thought that they wouldn't be entering London Bridge project without a plan.
Fantastic to see its finally happening!
