    Anyone know of a nice 2' diesel restoration project I could pick up for cheap and restore over a period of time for my (and ultimately others) enjoyment?

    Odds? Slim. No point not asking though!!

    At leighton buzzard we have 2 diesel loco's up for sale by a private owner, could not tell you if they are cheap , one is a ex-mines loco of hunslet manufacture, with a gardaner engine. Hope this helps

    The auction for the above has now commenced; ordinarily, I would be interested in one of these locos, but at those start prices, I may just be able to afford the Baldwin cab that is listed at A$6000-00!!!!

    It will be interesting to see if there is any adjustment in the prices or if there are any bids for the locos. Personally, I cannot see a market for the locos at these highly inflated prices, certainly not the preservation market. Shame.

    Considering the number of loco's being sold, some of those prices seem amazing for loco's that are non-operational and indeed close to being fit only for parts. There must be a local demand for them, as they are massively above scrap value (Currently about £145 a tonne)
