Looking terrific - the black has its own subtle charm. Looking forward to seeing her steam again :)

Wartime Number of Scotsman, the numbering as 502 on one side and 103 on the other i believe. I know its discussed somewhere here in the thread. I expect Anthony or one of the other NRM staff would have the exact details at their fingertips to fill you in on the details.

Thanks Stephen, it was 502 from January to May 1946, then 103 after then. Unusual chance to ring the changes.

But very much appreciated by this enthusiast - who has never seen wartime black on any engine in the flesh! (Too young...!) :)

Same for me too young. I remember seeing pictures of 8572 in Wartime Black in 1998/1999. Great idea and job by you guys at York.

And not forgetting Ian Riley's crew, Pridham's and the 1001 other companies, teams and individuals, plus all our supporters who have put money into the old girl. It's been a long 5 1/2 years, but the wait is nearly over. Great to see her in one piece again.

Quite, how could I? Thanks Keith. I have had the privilege of meeting Alan a couple of times since starting work with the NRM, and he is wonderful company and still as enthusiastic for the A3 as ever.

Looks good, very good. Well worth the wait, to say nothing about the money spent. All this achieved for less than the price of a third rate footballer. I suspect there may be a few details to finish off, but a big well done and an even larger thanks to everyone involved. In a few weeks time, all being well, we will have some sort of answer to the final question as to how well the old engine will perform. But until then, a little journey North of the Humber might be in order for me this weekend.
