There is also apparently a move from the ELR to Carnforth today (Wed) with two WCRC 37s bringing 45231 to Steamtown for overhaul.

Due off Castleton 1346, Eccles 1518 and Preston 1611. HTH

Tangmere + support coach departed Carnforth 10:25 en route to Bristol via the Welsh Marches. <BJ>

Tangmere on time through Patchway, Bristol at 18:14. We noticed that the support coach had quite severe wheel flats. <BJ>

Contrary to what I posted on the Elizabethan thread, Network Rail and WCRC appeared to perform a trial in which Royal Scot No. 46115 was allowed to steam through the Haymarket and Mound Tunnels ( to the West of Edinburgh Waverley station ) to test the effects of a steam engine running along this stretch, now being fully electrified on all lines. This was done as part of her engine move down to Carnforth from Bo'ness :
