All of the restored stock have had the panels removed, one of the LCDR bogie brakes 4115 still has its panelling, it is likely that it will be retained when it is restored. It gives a rather modern look to a 1898 built coach.

Not only Newport C&W, Ryde carried on panelling into the 60s.

Cheers Gary. I wasn't aware Ryde had too much to do with C&W after the Southern's reorganisation in the 1920's.

That one looks to have been plated over at the brake end

I think that Newport works and Loco shed closed in the mid 50s and all work was transferred to Ryde.

Yes - this was quite a regular occurrence on the LNER with a lot of locomotives.

My favourite of the livery oddities remains the 4-4-0 that was done up until Thompson to haul the directors saloon. LNER apple green, it carried two LNER numbers whilst apple green, plus its BR number and BR branding, and instead of getting mixed traffic livery when that was being applied en-masse, had the "British Railways" painted out in apple green on the tender and the cycling lion added instead between the two words...!

Just a quick snap off the NYMR unofficial MPD page, looks fantastic, well done to all involved.

The Thompson B1 Society have even gone so far as "allocating" her to "Whitby". Making her well and truly a Moors Loco:D. Just have to keep the garlic handy, considering the other famous visitor to Whitby......!

I'd bet they're using pukka paint rather than the tar-like gloop which passed for paint during WWII. But on the other hand, if it looks good ...... who cares?

Although whilst she looks resplendent in her new livery, on last year' Whitby Flyer, I took a close look at her, thinking that is probably 'the' most authentic looking BR paintwork I have seen since '68, with a lovely patina...

Thanks, I knew 1264 didn’t (built 1947 in apple green, no time to get two LNER liveries in before BR took over!) hence asking. I like it.

Very nice. Good use of (full size) modeller’s licence. Makes me think we should do 92 Squadron as SR 21C181 at some stage.
