Well said Simon, at last someone with common sense.

Never have I known Andy Cook to do something useful or use even one brain cell.

    Regards.

Isnt it against forum rules to name someone, except ones username, in such a derogitary manner? Maybe Admin or a moderator can explain, so we are made aware of what we can post in the future?

Regarding the click on pop up images

We did use them for a while, until we turned to the current style, I shall email the rest of the web team asking if they can be implemented.

I notice from the new look website that when new information and articles are posted in the Carrage and Wagon and P Way sections this is NEVER linked to the latest news section .
Oh dear if this is an oversite then it need to be fixed now as all of this makes the railway what it is .
If its deliberate because the people doing the web site dont think its important enough and not in keeping with the Spin needed by the railway ... Bring Back Tony Wood !!

The website is STILL being re-vamped. In no way is this the finished article as yet.

Patience my boy, ( I can talk), anyway Tony was offered the chance to run the volunteer side of things with Tim Beere doing the commercial with Tony turning it down saying it was either all or nothing.

There is always two sides to everything.

    Regards
    Chris

Last year I regularly checked the MHR loco roster to see what was running and visited the railway on eight occasions. Without the roster I no longer look at the website. The result is that I have visited many preserved railways this year but not the Mid-Hants. Could we possibly have the loco roster on the website as before? <BJ>

If you want to follow Tony Wood's images, go to UK Heritage Railways, click on "News Express" and you can link to the site Tony uses via a Mid-Hants news feature on News Express.

Tony's work really isn't in the right place and I have to say that I think his work he done before on the MHR is/was the best ever. Ok I know the site is just starting off (So to speak) but more work and justice could be done to the line!!

Likewise! Swanage, Bluebell and Didcot have had all my business since loco roster at MHR became a closely guarded secret. Shame, because it's a terrific ride over the Alps. I also really miss the Italian cafe in Alton.

I also acknowledge how the website under Tony Wood catered brilliantly for serious and informed enthusiasts - but the railway is a business and had to take control of its public interface. Marketing is - whether we like it or not - a principal requirement of the website, not providing detailed technical information to the likes of us. Could you honestly envisage or tolerate a situation where a multi million pound PLC is beholden to a volunteer to post details of some key event or offer only to find that your press release or publicity has to be hastily withdrawn because someone who is not even an employee is "out" or "off"?
Having said that, what is there to prevent Tony's contribution returning - except Tony Wood himself? He refused to contribute to the website now, and instead provides information to an independent and let's face it - more obscure source. Again -that's great for those of us who know it, but it does not benefit the casual or occasional visitor.
I can understand Tony's fit of pique at the time because he had done such a great and exceptionally good job but recently we've had a good period for reconciliation on the railway (34105? 76017?) . It would be nice to round off this good year and welcome Tony back to the official website as "Contributing Technical Editor" How about it Tony? Tim? ?

I think you have to tread carefuly when berating Tony as the whole Mid Hants web site was his idea and baby for as long as the W Wide web has been in existance.
So please understand his reluctance to be involved with the new format .
However this is taking a very long time to show itself and its a mish mash of old and new not an ideal situation at all as the power of the interned is immence and must be used to its best .
It does im sorry to say rely on contributers and also the people running it being prompt in putting contributions on to the pages for ALL to see.
We shall see if its not all sorted in another month then there is NO EXCUSE.

David you make out that the whole www was Tony,s ?, no it was not but that said it was indeed Tony that started it on the Mid-Hants , and a very good job he did too. I for one would like to see him working back on ot with Tim Beere, (a proposition he was offered), and we shall see if he does, I sincerely hope so.

There are no winners here, only losers such as ourselves. It wouls appear that the this is the same format that unions use when holding the country to ransom.

    Regards
    Chris

Tony isnt holdong anyone to ransom. If the new people doing the web site want to make it theirs and put their own stamp on it great but it has to be done quickly as a whole format .We have two running concurrently on the same site . As I said the Wagons and Pway etc hang on to the old format.
The information may be there but the casual visitor will not find it .

How typical of Mr Sod (sods law), it is that as soon as MHR get lots of locos in service, there is no more loco roster. Yet last year when it was always 34007 and 73096, the roster was updated a lot!
