SD This trip will be diesel hauled between Yeovil Junction & Weymouth in one direction, currently expected to be the outward journey, and is planned to be diesel assisted out of Weymouth on the return journey.

RTC We return from Weymouth at around 16:35 and our train will be hauled by a steam locomotive and ‘banked’ at the rear by a diesel locomotive to assist with the steep climb ahead. It may be that the diesel will be at the front with the steam locomotive working from the rear of the train for the section between Weymouth and Southampton on the return journey.

    Edit - Both priced at £ 99.00.

I note that it states " There may be occasions when these trains are diesel-hauled between Weymouth and Southampton for operational reasons."

    Here's for honesty and effort...

Two tours same day same route same price...

If one has Tangmere and the other Braunton it couldn't be much better (well it could .. afterall it might be one with 35018 and the other with 35028)

The reason why the SD trip is of particular interest is that it's from Waterloo and it's WCR. I thought they didn't do Waterloo

I though it was just Platform 19 after Bittern was derailed. Trips to Weymouth are limited to 11 coaches I believe so other platforms can be used. The trip behind Clan Line in 2012 left from Platform 16.

I've just booked on the Buxton trip on 18th April - looks good to me, but will they really take the full route back over Copy Pit? It will take hours, won't it? I am guessing with the K4 it will load to around 7-8 carriages. Any thoughts, anyone?

Will be booking on it in due course. I'm also (for my sins) booked on the 'Tin Bath', so if that runs over Copy Pit, then there is no reason why the 'Buxton Spa' won't. However, an alternative, if 61994 is gauged for the route and Man Vic is indeed the departure station, is to return via Rochdale. Equally, if the departure station becomes Man Pic and 61994 is cleared for the route and pathing is available, then it could even be Standedge. Any of the three routes would suit me, although Rochdale would just mean new track between Man Vic and the junction for Denton near the top of Miles Platting- downhill...

    There was no derailment.
The points were switched whilst the train was moving over them, the buffet then spliced the blade open again as it passed over, causing the signals to change to red.
The train was delayed a few hours half in / half out the station, plats 18-19 closed.

After resolution the train went on its merry way, recovered most of its delay by going direct to Woking rather than via Staines.

Like the look of The Cotswold Venturer with 6023 in June... what are the chances of 'The King' being certified for the mainline by June?

    I stated in a previous post :
But I would not book until it has run a loaded test run.

Hang on 5029's mainline ticket doesn't run out till 2015, but I have noticed that she has been taken off the 2015 programme. What's going on with her.

They're doing the Esk Valley again this year, but turning off the ECML at Northallerton instead of reversing at Darlington, which will put the locos at opposite ends from where they were in 2014, and leave the B1 to work the leg from Battersby to York.

Thanks for spotting that. Highly tempting to do this from London, joining and leaving at York. Have noticed that York/Kings Cross trains that evening are all diverted via Lincoln and Sleaford, however the morning ones to York seem to be as normal. Booking a non-refundable ticket to connect with this trip is definitely a bit high-risk from past bitter experience with RTC "one-off" trips of this type!

Booked on it, as there's no problem with getting on at York. Funny, I was chatting to a colleague about steam to Sunderland a couple of days ago, too.

Have I missed something here? How long has the starting point for The Wansbeck been York & not Carnforth?

I think it may have originally been planned from Carnforth (its even still saying that on UKSteam) I know a letter arrived today with a friend noting some changes.
