    Hello. Would anyone know where we could obtain a CAV sarter motor for a Ruston 3 VSH engine. 1957 ish

    13 teeth, 12 volt. Any condition considered.

    I don't have one to offer (though I own a 40DL with a 3VRH) - but I understand that these engines were used in excavators (e.g. Ruston Bucyrus) which may at least open a possible line of enquiry if you've not been there already. I think about starter motors everytime I pick up that big handle.......

    If you have one then it is possible to get them rebuilt. Most CAV stuff also has modern equivalents. The starter motors on the Turbostars I worked on differed only slightly to the ones on my old AEC Matadors and Gardener, Leyland and AEC engined buses!

    Problem is don't have a complete correct starter to have rebuilt currently. Will make more enquieries.
