In reply Firstly I'm no expert and largely a computer pundit who plays on a private line occasionally.

    1. As the T9 is part of the national collection I would imagine it will be on a similar agreement to other NRM engines and therefore will visit other lines subject to approval.

    2. Depends on the line and any restrictions that may be placed on the engine by its owner.

    3. Its a REPAIR need I say more.

My advice is go and see it as you never know whats round the corner. As far as long term goes, subject to there being nothing else major thats borderline, I dont see why the NRM would object to replacing the cylinder block. In the case of Green Arrow its because the cylinders are a monoblock casting and therefore a rare piece of engineering that would be extremely costly to replace.

Not sure where you're located, but it's not as far as you think for a day trip from London. I travelled down to Bodmin using the sleeper a few weeks back, getting the first train out of Penzance back up. It can be pricey, but no worse than a hotel. I went back down to Penzance and got the sleeper back as well, but you can also quite easily get a train from Bodmin back up to London getting in at a just about reasonable time!

Thanks ovbullied and buzby2. I thought the post meant home based locos and not the upcoming Gala. Sorry.

    1. 30120 continues to undergo a programme of running-in on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway. These runs are also being used for crew training/familiarisation. No significant problems have been encountered to date, the loco is running well and is free steaming.
    2. After the cessation of passenger services this afternoon, 30120 worked its first loaded test run comprising 3 Mark 1's, making a whole line return trip (13 miles), again with no problems.
    3. During the w/b 23 August 30120 will be fully lined out, and is not expected to work any trains next week.
    4. Everything is on schedule for 30120 to make its public debut as planned at the BWR Steam Gala & Real Ale Festival on 2-5 September. Don't miss it!
    5. The loan agreement for 30120 is broadly similar to that for Beattie well tank 30587, and is between the NRM (as owners) and the BWR (as custodians of the loco for at least the next ten years). 30120 will now be 'a Bodmin based loco' until at least 2020.
    6. Following agreement between the NRM and BWR, 30120 will not be hired out to other heritage lines before mid-2012 (except for any request from the NRM for the loco to appear at York or Shildon). It seems only fair that, with the BWR Trust having invested heavily in the overhaul of 30120, people should get an opportunity to savour the T9 at the BWR first.
