Can anyone give me a ball park figure for the weight of a tender tank i.e. empty and without chassis?
I appreciate there will be differences but say for something like a Stanier or Collett tender.

    Many thanks
    Dave

An all welded 4000 gal hawksworth Is about 6.5t. Would imagine the same sized collet to be roughly the same If not a little more.

You can work it out for yourself if you have a drawing. A 1/4" thick steel plate weighs as near as makes no difference 10 lb/sq ft. ( Thus, if it's 3/8" thick it would weight 15 lb/sq ft.) You don't have to be too accurate in your dimensions to get a ball park figure.
