The Waverley 2011

This years Waverley is running every Friday from 22nd July to the 9th September, as advertised in the new RTC brochure, does anyone know why its moved from last years Sunday slot?

 

It's shown as being run on Sunday's on Uksteam.

 

The RTC Website states it runs on Sundays including the online booking.

 

Well 22nd July and 9th September are both Fridays! It would seem odd if it was a printing error that both the date and the day of the week should both be incorrect but of course they could be. Clearly this needs clarification.

 

Yes it does need making clear, but i think you will find these trains will run on Sundays, i cant see them clashing with the Scarborough trains. Whatever, i will make the effort and support them, having steam stop to pick up and set down at your local station with the bonus of a return run on the finest mainline steam run in this country is too good to miss.

 

The RTC tour brochure index page states every Sunday from 24th July to 4th September but the actual Waverley page says every Friday from 22nd July to 9th September so make of it what you will. Loco pool is given as 5690, 44932, 46115 and 70013.

 

Be nice if a certain LNER Pacific could make its S&C return to show a few people what it can do

 

If 4472 does return to duty this summer, then the Scarborough Spa Expresses (if they run again this year - no mention on UKsteam.info yet) would seem to be a natural running-in turn. Since the SSE locos have very often also hauled The Waverley as well, then you may get your wish. However, until the overhaul is much nearer completion, I don't expect you'll see any official mention of her in connection with either trip.

There is a notice on RTC website which states the Friday is a printing error and the trains will run on Sundays.
