Has anything happened with the proposal to re-open this branch or was it just another dreamer with no money ?

I've no information at all about this, but the same question occured to me as I drove from Llanuwchllyn to Blaenau a fortnight ago. It's such a lovely line and much of the trackbed appears to be in situ, even the track from Traws to Blaenau. It's not a route I have ever travelled by train. I wish I had caught one of the Sunday dmu specials back in the 1980s!

It is probably in the same state as the Cauldon Low branch was before MCR started on it - maybe worse due to weather in the Welsh hills (rotten sleepers etc.) I've not heard of the plans since about a year ago (thread on here somewhere)

I visited earlier this year and would say with the exception of the very end of the branch at Trawsfynydd its in much better condition than the Caldon branch was. Theres certainly less undergrowth. Nearly all the trackbed is in all the way to the summit at Lyn Tryweryn. Now it would be very costly indeed to reinstate that section, but boy, it would be the most dramatic preserved line in the county! I can just see a 72xx hammering all the way up there with 6 on.....

Hopefully it will become a Velorail system.

The noise of the 72xx might well be drowned out by the sound of breaking chairs on the curves through BF!!! :)
