    If I might make a suggestion regarding this site so that you don't upset the local farming fraternity by blocking the narrow lane is to park at the end of the lane or on the side of the main road further up on your left and walk up the lane to the gate on your right for access to the field

    Shep theres also a roughly tarmaced hardstand on the left hand side shapely after you come under the bridge. Further to walk but off the road.

    Afterwards coffee in Settle at "Ye Olde Naked Man Cafe".

    (no connection with "Ye Olde Miserable Man Cafe" in Kirkby Stephen)

    If (as appears from the video) the diesel wasn't even propelling itself, then that was a pretty heavy train, though perhaps not as heavy as the freight trains that Class 8Fs would have taken over the S&C. How heavy would those have been?
