    Actually looking more closely, the middle one is Horsted Keynes, not SP.

    When I get a chance I'll look up the exact date for the c dog, but it was ca. 1972ish. It ran like that because the Dukedog's own tender leaked like a sieve but the engine ran, whereas the C class wasn't running but had a good tender - hence the two working bits were cobbled together to make one working, albeit hybrid, loco! As if 3217 wasn't already enough if a hybrid...

    Must of been some task, connecting a GWR loco to a SE&CR tender. The fittings/connections/pipework must be totally different. Not to mention any footplate height difference.
