Could I ask, WHAT is an "Audience Development Co-ordinator"? I ask because I've no idea, I've never heard of such a person or position.
I wish you all well with the restoration job, funds are there, get cracking.

Thats very nice Victor she is a handsome creature. Not sure this warrants its own thread though when theres already a live Bahamas thread. Where also does one appraise this view of said lovely Loco, as you have n't given many clues....

You need to look at Ian Riley's discussion forum, The Works. If this link doesn't work, then you may have to register and/or log-in first. The picture in question shows Bahamas being shunted around York by a Deltic.

Bahamas is due at Keighley this week if not already there, hence the manouvering at NRM. If I recall the plan is to put it on display for a while and then dismantle for it's overhaul.

Was it one of those blokes they used to have in TV studios who held up a board saying 'clap'? (strange way to publicise a nasty affliction I always thought :) )

All the best to the Bahamas team though!! :)

    Re: Bahamas

It is indeed. I asked on The Works where the photo had been taken and a kind gentleman suggested York, it seems as though York it is.
Sorry for starting a new thread, (senior moment) by all means the mods. can combine the threads, no problem from me.

Oh, and I think the colour is better than yon pink thing from Carnforth. :peace:

Agreed, a green Jubilee. I wonder if that is because the loco only received a double chimney in 1961, or a democratic vote by the BLM members? Or both?

    Either way, bring it on.

One thing springs to mind. Would the chimney be shaved to ensure a safe fit out on the big railway?

    Re: Bahamas

All of the appeal promotional material includes a big part about how Bahamas was the last British Rail steam development. The point this refers to of course is the BR installed double chimney. After making a big fuss about this, and that being the selling point to get donations, wouldn't it just be a bit wrong to paint her in anything else other that her BR livery?

    Re: Bahamas

Yes, I agree. That was my point. BR Brunswick green.

Off-topic somewhat, but as an aside, I recall when Bahamas first received an overhaul after purchase into preservation, it was carried out by Hunslets in Leeds. Loco turned out in LMS crimson, and it was said at the time that the paint used was in effect model paint, supplied as sponsors by Humbrol.

The double chimney was fitted in 1958 and was copped by myself the following year at Prestatyn.

The double chimney was fitted in 1958, the details of Rugby testing station are correct for 1956. Copped Bahamas myself with the double chimney at Prestatyn 1959.

Railway history indicates that the double chimney was fitted in 1961.
