I guess that depends on "P6687's" relationship with WCRC and where, and when, the picture was taken. For example, perhaps P6687 works for one of WCRC's suppliers. Let's not speculate ahead of the facts (just this once)...

I aint gonna say where the picture came from, as i told a certain person at WCRC, i aint a grass, its already got way out of hand, who would have thought that so much agro would come from a picture.

Shot at dawn probably. All very very childish by a certain organisation. Not a exactly a threat to the nation's security is it, or cause WW3?

Don't beat about the bush, I think we all know who made the complaint, it has been mentioned elsewhere that a certain person went ballistic.

I don't know about that!! I heard that north Korea were only putting the "weather satalite" into the atmosphere to spy on carnforth for galatea.

If you read my post, I was speaking generally. Not particually about steam_mad.
You might be a admin/mod but you seem to take great delight in picking fault in many of my posts for some reason. I'm allowed an opinion as much as anyone else.
Anyway, since then it has all escalated out of proportion. It's only a railway engine for Christ's sake, not the latest nuclear bomb.
Bear in mind at least two other people asked for a link before my post.

Yeesh, does it matter that much? Getting the scoop and all that is all very well, but really, this isn't the USSR or the Mafia. Presumably a local Carnforth butchers just got an order for a Horses head?

    *edit*
I have left the above for people to read as I don't want to sound like I was pro-WCRC all along. That would be dishonest. However, I have now reconsidered my position, and feel that WCRC have a valid objection to the publication of this picture.

I'd still really like to see it though...

I would point out that it certainly didn't read that way. As for the picking holes comment Don't think so rather more you don't like people having a different opinion. Just an observation.

The picture I found was on a PUBLIC railway group, so I presumed it was ok to repost the link here, I now see it was not. Enough talk about the photographer and poster on Facebook - whats done is done. I am sorry for any problems caused (WCRC etc) and have asked the moderators to keep the link removed. In future, I'll think before posting.

It's hard to see what you've actually done wrong. If you hadn't reposted the link then someone else probably would have.

After watching the programme about the'faked' lunar landing last night I would think that faking a loco restoration would be relatively easy. However, planting a supposedly recent photo of an un-restored 'Galatea' leads me to think that this is the work of Smithy's secret service agents.

I imagine that exclusive first published photos will be worth a fair few quid - to the owners from a mag, and to the mag from sales - I don't think it's unreasonable for both parties to protect that.

Yes and No. I was mulling this over whilst having tea. By all means take reasonable precautions to preserve your 'scoop', but if someone entirely legally takes a picture, well that's it. There isn't much more to be done. Annoying, yes, but not really the end of days, which is how it seems to have been treated in some corners. No point going off the deep end, although a friendly request would be acceptable. I don't think this could constitute invasion of privacy!

WCRC wonder why people get up tight about the lack of info on restorations, Ok its their toy, let them get on with it.

However the same people are the ones they expect to pay £££ to travel behind it when its finished, its a very fine dividing line between secrecy and being obstructive. I have not seen the picture, or have any interest in 45699, who runs the forum the mods or WCRC????

I suppose now its finished, and it needs to earn its keep, they can send it on snowplough duties in scotland to recoup their investment.....
