By brother & I are booked on that tour. It would make my day if 45699 pulled it, but I won't hold my breath. Since the early 80's when it was bought as spares for Leander, I remember as a kid seeing Galatea's boiler sat outside the main shed at Steamtown - it will be great to finally see this loco running again.

I've heard from one of the people involved with Leander that it's likely to be 2013 before it emerges

I notice R.T.C. mention Galatea as a possible loco on the Waverleys so I would assume she must be fairly close to steaming

Who knows?? it might even be turned out as 5699 or has Carnforth bulk bought br green and black paint and needs to use it up? , I dont know, the engine hasnt even turned a wheel yet. and already we are discussing liveries does Mr smith tend to prefer Post nationalisation liveries for their engines?

Mr Smith tends to go for BR liveries for his fleet. The S & C could see some interesting recreations of the "Waverley" and "Thames-Clyde Express" with double-headed Stanier power of various combinations.

As the coupling rods that came with 5699 to Tyseley from Kidderminster are going to the Patriot project, I wonder which ones she has?

Personally i do not give a stuff about the colour, i am sure The erstwhile Mr Smith will paint it a appropriate colour to match his rolling stock.
with a Jubilee it is all about THE NOISE.

...and on a more general point, it will be good to have a working Jubilee again.

Are you sure this is right? I thought the rods from 45562 had gone to the Patriot project?

Could it be the original coupling rods it entered Barry with ?
All the jubilees entered preservation complete ( though 5699 lost a wheel)... 45562 didnt enter preservation but a lot of its parts did. Maybe 45562 supplied parts to 45699, but the parts not required have gone to the patriot ?

I think I am correct in saying that the Jubilee motion that was at Tyseley came from Cashmores Great Bridge. Nothing to do with any loco at Barry.

Having now looked it up, the motion parts for the Patriot originally came from 45562 & 45697. Both these locos went to Tyseley en route to Cashmores and the various bits were removed there. Somwhere in the great slide collection in the loft i have photos of them being stripped whilst at Tyseley.
