Indeed, Jordan, and even Tornado came out in undercoat first.

Although Tornado did run hot on the crossheads initially!

The lubricator being correct is in all fairness a good idea, as paint can be (and might be) changed later, in which case the correct item would be excellent! Getting a wrong one fitted and passing up on a correct item may come back to bite them on the ass later on in service. It's nice to get the correct parts fitted. Paint is paint, it can be changed.

Don't worry, 48624 will be black with the earlier style of BR badge on the tender sides.

This is the livery i thought it would be in from the start. After all there was this shot from last year.

    http://marksutton.fotopic.net/p53891020.html

Which would pose the question, why go to the effort of originally painting it in black then go to red?

Hang on! You don't tend to paint the smokebox and saddle in the same colour as rest of it unless the whole loco is painted black. Methinks someone is having a giggle here... =D>

Great if it is black (as it should be!) as I have wanted a reason to go to Peak Rail for a long time! Any chance of a nice long freight some day?

If you visited Crewe in the 1960s with the same attitude as some posters on this thread you'd be convinced they were turning out 9Fs in pink... :) Nuf sed.

Aha! Food for thought! Red is a black undercoat after all. 8-[

Now then, if we start a rumour about a 9F being turned out in pink, how long before every one is believing it?! #-o

It would be lovely to see an addition to the non-BR liveried ranks. While I do not generally have a preference over liveries, I like variety and get quite sick of everything being black (and in many cases slightly unloved.) I love the idea of a maroon 8f, it could only be for the first 18 months or so. [-o< [-o< [-o<

However, I'm quite sure the dreaded, dull Black synonymous with decay and death will be amongst us soon.....

Oh well, congrats to the team for the work so far and best of luck for the coming months.

Trust me, it will be running in BR black with the early BR badge on the tender. I look forward to seeing it running. Well done to the team that are restoring it.

With the shed at Rowsley complete, agreement reached with NR about running into Matlock and 48624 likely to steam shortly, it looks like things are on the up for Peak Rail. This is good news - there is great potential for a heritage line in that very attractive part of the world, and an 8F would be a most appropriate flagship engine. Derbyshire is a long way from my neck of the woods in the Sunny South, but seeing 48624 - in whatever livery - at work in such appropriate surroundings certainly is a tempting prospect.

100% agree John, and as we have said on the phone fairly recently about the possibility of going on a steam related trip somewhere, to my mind this goes to the top of the list.
