People may be interested to know that the new tender frames (inner and outer) for the London Midland Society's 4F No.4123 were delivered to the AVR last week.

We had attempted to repair the existing frames, but this was heavy going due to extensive corossion on the front 1/3rd, so in the end decided that it would be just as easy and better in the long term to make new ones...

These were cut by Precision Profiles of Bristol at a very competetive price...

A very sensible approach to a growing problem

I am pleased to see a group mature enough to take this attitude the old days of repairing rotten components just because it was origional are long gone

    Well done

    Thanks.

By the time we've fininshed with the tender it will be almost entirely new construction.

The only things being re-used being the wheels, horn guides, some of the springs and associated 'furniture' and a few bits of brake gear. Everything else is being made new...

I haven't seen 44123 since I moved away from the area back in 2002. It's nice to see some news :).

    Very Best Wishes,
    Bob.

Is this the same engine that came sideways out of Barry?
If it is I was part of the crew that did it.
