Big engine - low loader road movement. Always a worry. Just a personal view.

The loco was not in the best of health when it was at the WSR gala, it seems to have been neglected a bit by the GCR, the loco had leaking tubes when it arrived at the WSR.

She didn't seem to work very hard when she was at the MHR Spring Gala in March. The couple of runs I had behind her were very subdued. I wondered at the time whether she was being nursed through the event.

What assumption have you made to make that comment? I can assure you that the GCR/5305LA take great pride in the work they do with there loco's and its unfortunate to say that she may not have been in the best of health at the WSR, doesn't mean to say she has been neglected. If the loco was not in a fit state to attend the West Somerset Railway, we wouldn't of sent her there.

Well I saw the leaking tubes and there was no owners representative there with the loco to check that everything was ok............ not really the way to look after one of the nations steam locos

My first full visit to the North Norfolk and Sir Lamiel had indeed thrown a sickie (leaking large tubes according to a driver I spoke to). The weekends 2 train service was worked by D5631 and 5619.

The driver seemed a bit distraught as I think he was looking forward to driving 777 but he got a diesel instead :(

Not sure what you are wanting to achieve with a comment like that!

If you are a volunteer at WSR you are doing them discredit! 777 has been there before and they have looked after her admirably. There was certainly support crew there the 2nd weekend and there were no bad reports.

She was actually used last time on a royal train at the WSR, and before she left the GC she passed her mainline exams.

There is I am told a pinhole in one of the flues which will be removed next week (by the support crew that you have now insulted) and once repaired back at Loughborough the flue will be refiited on site and hopefully she will have a successful period at the NNR this summer.

You have to remember that she is near the end of her ticket and she is booked in next year at Loughborough for a major overhaul.
