    Would be interesting to see several of the carriages restored to this condition, however I guess not commercially viable for most railways.

    There were of course two sorts of ambulance trains. The ones which ran from UK ports to hospitals, and those which ran within France. The latter woud have been the extremely long ones, which often ran quite slowly.

    Yes I am an active volunteer
    Gwr 2807 group are hoping to restore their siphon van to ambulance condition, I believe in at least one half. Not sure where it's going to be when it's finished though.

    That looks like an ambulance coach that was used for taking pilgrims to Lourdes.
