Do any mainline registered loco's still use the old vacuum horn rather than the electronic horn + flashing light combo?

Does anyone know of any images showing the location in the cab of the horn (traditional pre 68 BR)

Ta in advance for any pointers

The horn on the K1 62005 is the same one fitted in the 60s when AWS was first fitted. The same is true of the bell.

They are fitted above and slightly behind the drivers head, inside the cab roof.

I'll see if I can find a photo if you wish.

I thought the flashing light on the AWS system on a steam loco, was there to tell the driver that the "sunflower" has been activated, so the driver can have his attention drawn to the AWS system when the loco is working hard and the horn wasn't so audible?

    What flashing light?

There isn't one on the BR system; the warning was the horn (audible) and sunflower (visual), and that's all.

Modern systems fitted to air-brake compatible steam locomotives have largely done away with the air horn as it was far too quiet for the steam loco cab environment.

The N.R.S. system uses an electronic 'horn' and a flashing beacon as a visual aid should a 'caution' be received by thw AWS receiver.

The bello the cab of 62005 is situated behind the drivers head on the ceiling as the picture shows.
