This site is in English but doesn't tell us a great deal about the loco other than works number and building date.

Edit : I've taken a look at the Norwegian site and have managed to find out that the loco is 1067mm/3' 6" gauge and went to the museum in 1923. A working knowledge of German helps as Norwegian belongs to the Germanic family of languages. Online translators come in handy too.

Can't help with that one but it must be a Beyer Peacock of about the same vintage as the IOMR engines, the earliest of which date from the 1870s.

At the railway museum in Sweden there is also a close relative of Joseph Beattie's LSWR 2-4-0 tender engines from the 1860s. This loco was also built by BP and the resemblance is because Beattie was either involved with its design or came to some agreement with the buliders to allow them to use the drawings for his LSWR engines.

Most of the early railways in Sweden and Norway (the same country until 1909) were built eith by the Brits, or with British money so the use of Beyer Peacock locomotives in the early days was quite common. There are 5 very early and well preserved examples in the Swedish national collection as follows:

    Locomotives on display are:
SJ No. 3 Prins August 2-4-0 Beyer Peacock wn 33 of 1856
SJ No. 22 Thor 0-4-2T Beyer Peacock wn 239 of 1861
SJ No. A75 2-2-2 Beyer Peacock wn 627 of 1866

    in store, both 0-6-0s:
    SJ No. G93, wn 809 of 1867
SJ (ex BJ) No. K27, wn 1933 of 1880

you can see some of my pictures of the first 3 at:

    best regards from Stockholm, George!
