    Hi All
Bit of a plea for help. I'm trying to put together a bit of a course for footplate safety and need some material to animate what damage a blow back can do and the importance of keeping arm covered, using 100% cotton overall etc etc. I'm aware that it could be a sensitive subject for those who may have been affected by such an occurrence so please feel free to contact me via here or PM.
Many thanks in advance and apologies if I've missed another topic where this has been covered.

Sorry, can't help with material, but I have seen some of the damage done on a mainline loco after a blow back. Crew were ok, but paperwork that was tucked behind some conduit in the cab roof was badly burnt around the edges, and a jacket that had been in a cupboard on the tender front had a black line down it where the flames had come through a gap in the doors. Scary stuff to think people were in the same area.

Yeah. I have thanks. Was just trawling every avenue and something a little more personal than just a report. But thanks for the link and 5944 for your response

A cause that people forget about is using an ash pan sprinkler (If the loco has one) with the blower turned right down, as the water runs into the pan, and boils, coming up through the fire as steam, might be worth chucking that in if your locos are so equipped.
