    Evening All,

I paid a visit to the Brecon Beacons earlier this month and, whilst there, had a trip on the Brecon Mountain Railway. I also took a few pictures and if anyone would like to see them they are now on Flickr. Here's the first one and clicking on it will enlarge it and take you to the others :

Alternatively, they can be found in this collection :

Hope that they are of interest.

Nice photos Ron. I haven't been there for many years, must go and have a ride behind that Baldwin sometime.

It's a really splendid beastie. There can't be that many 2' gauge Pacifics around!

The railway will be even better when they get their Baldwin 2-6-2 back on the road and extend the trains to Torpantau.

Is the Baldwin 4-6-2 the one that came from Port Elizabeth?

Yes, it is. It worked at a cement works and was written off after running away and becoming derailed. Not that you'd know that seeing it now though! There can't be many 2' gauge Pacifics around.

    Want one!

Great set of photos Ron. Yes, it is a very attractive and photogenic locomotive. Glad to see the Torpantau extension is coming on at the BMR too.

As for 2'-0" gauge Pacifics, I believe that The Ramptons have a pair of the Gwalior Pacifics built by Bagnall. To top it off, they also have a 2'-6" gauge North British class C from India as well, I wonder if I'll get a chance to see them before I pop my clogs? I think that both of the North British Pacifics from the Darjeeling are preserved - as in stuffed and mounted - in India.

Also, there is a 2'-0" gauge Pacific in Poland that once worked on a sugar line.

    Cheers

    Alan

I believe that there were 2' gauge sleeping cars in the former South West Africa (now Namibia).

So 2' gauge Pacifics aren't quite as rare as I'd thought. Still want one!
