Is the NRM in talks with EWS in getting hold of 58050 or any other class 58 for it collection or not. Being that 58050 was the last diesel loco built for BR in this country.

The RHC has designated one hasnt it? In which case that will probably go to the NRM.

i think the class 60s were built by brush .
but the class 58s were built by british rail as it was then so 58050 would be the last engine to be built by br

Yes, they were. But then look at 73129s original phrasing...

I believe 58050 was the last engine to be built at Doncaster works thus giving it the importance it needs to be saved. I believe the first member of the class should also be preserved as well.

Just because it is registered does NOT mean that it will be part of the NRM stock. IIRC all registration means is that - at the end of its working life - it must not be scrapped but found a home by the current owner / operator with a suitable heritage site OF WHICH THE NRM IS BUT ONE. The only exception to this is if an example of the item already exists in preservation [ e.g. 58001 currently resident at Barrow Hill ] in which case the preserved item can replace the registered item to ensure that the HRC records show that an example of the item has been preserved.

This is true Fred, was looking at a designated vehicle yesterday (not a loco) which will not be coming to York or Shildon.
