Yes it might seem that way but facts are facts and should not be distorted to suit other peoples requirements. That is not how justice works.Sometimes the facts are not very palatable and do not pack neatly in the box.

I was brought up to be honest and tell the truth, that way everyone knows where they are, it has worked well in my life and I have my parents to thank for it .

I am not just about to change my attitude to facts and truth honesty and integrity . Other people may not wish to speak or be in a position of responsibility, to do as I have done , I may well speak for them too, in what I have put although I am not saying its other peoples views these are my views.

What I have said is not slanderous and not meant to give offence, its just fact I was in this working amongst it all .

Most of the members who put in so much and worked with us as engineering support have ceased to be involved with the current organisation.

A very sad outcome,as much for them, they too put so much into it all and it made them feel as though they belonged to part of it , and I am sad that it has amounted to the situation it has, a lot of commitment time and effort was put in to acheive the infrastructure we had. It was all wasted , for what ??is the question because a different group of people had a vision that suited them.

The more people that read this thread the better the world will be advised to make their personal judgement and ask questions for themselves.

I sincerely hope what I have said helps others to understand how their actions affect other insignifivcant people and those peoples lives and sense of belonging .
The L&B was a project built by the people for the people ,some were able to put in more some less but all of them contributed in their own way, somehow it does not quite seem like that now, to me, others will make their judgment and their vote as time passes .

Best Regards to all you readers

It is worth noting that Engineer's partisan account of history has been challenged elsewhere by the L&B and by others with a broader perspective on these events.

What elsewhere ? on the very limited audience Exmoor NG forum no doubt.

Where only the stayed followers of the current management gather around to support each other ??

I put my case there on that site - in fact again- but it has now a very limited audience of readers those that solely follow the current management.

I have come to this site to read sensible debate and information and to offer the same in return to others, because this site has a much wider audience and less single minded people, who may genuinly be interested in what I have to say.

If your here to contest what I have said because your one of the followers of the current management please do not persist I did not solicit you, I do not require your view I already know it . We are dealing with truth and facts here not something your probably aware of so you might get an insight if your prepared to read and accept that there is another version to the one you have implanted in your mind .Hope you see my small point .

Pleased to offer an idea for you to consider..... I have built Gertrude along with others, you can see the product , it has quality on the tag, and an awfull lot of other L&B items too that do not have tags on but do have my mark on them.

To start the contest you go and build 762 LYN as it seems your quoting your association with that project, on time on price and to spec and show me it run and work efficiently, and then you will have the same credentials as me , you can then follow and comment on my work thanks, thats a fair way of looking at it from my perspective and I might guess other peoples.

To start you need a lot of knowledge ( I have not seen that in that project yet ) a fair amount of experience in engineering like a lifetime, a big funnel and lots of money to pour in the funnel , that goes in a hole and dissapears.
I would be happy at that stage to discuss the finer points of loco construction and tollerances with you ,when I can see we have common ground to work over.In the mean time please let everone get on with reading, unless you have facts and evidence to alter what I have written, thats unlikely as i was there and you were not So my view is the fact one.

Sorry readers for the interuption I felt it neccessary to respond to Martin Ball with his comments. For the readers information I have spent 35 years in machine tool maintenance design and manufacture,I have engineering Qualifications also in line with my job possition , I tend to get the problem solved by the use of knowledge and experience.I hope you find my writings informative please have an open mind life is not always what it seems .

    Ummm

Your badly spelt and splenetic rantings say more about the paucity of your case than any of the reasoned replies that the L&B management have ever put forward.
It's a shame that railway preservation seems to attract more than its fair share of the tunnel-visioned - but I guess raiwsy do have their fair share of tunnels!! :)

Spelling may not be my or everyone's fortay, including yours!!

But hey I am pretty good at engineering, you cannot deny that , could be a more usefull asset in building railways and operating them.

Especially if you get into building your own loco's , I hear around in engineering circles that the price keeps rising in engineering generally, especially with loco's if you cannot get the contract tied down and the spec secured .

A small bit of advice ,Engineers will not commit to a fixed price build ,try and go there and its a no mans land lot of shells landing and exploding next to you there will be a lot of people you will fall out with over money.

We are not building houses or blocks of flats here and its engineers not builders your dealing with ,if they are worth their salt it will be on their terms and their price. No negotiation.

You might be building it yourself yet to do it on price. I will watch with interest and probably I feel some laughter comming on too.

Have fun don't we all love it.

    Haha.

I take it that your misspelt "fortay" [sic] is a very clever self-ironic joke?

Just shows how totally miss informed you are about my personality .

As an apprentice I had an old chap tell me this one ... say what you mean mean what you say, don't wrap it up in words and fancy jargon then everyone will understand what you mean. !!

I don't do self irony you got me totally wrong again as well.I am sure you excell in writing, probably better you stick to writing about things, with which no doubt your in good company with lots of pictures of course and maybe not trying to build loco's.Very intense engineering especially to get the bits to fit together !! Ummm...Maybe 762 comes in kit form from IKEA.

Only part kits not the whole engine though, all slot together no glue nails or bolts needed but only the cabs availible. Oh dear .Instructions say needs engineer to assemble metal bits not included.

But on the up side( sorry not passing trains) we have had over 70 readers visit this thread in the last hour, pretty good going for me someone's interested !!!! in whats being said then. Ummmm wonder who that is ,is it only one persone keeps refreshing every minute or are there more readers watching I wonder ???.

Make a change from rants about the WHR and WHHR all I can say is that Gertrude is a very nicely restored loco , and would agree it would have easily done a job for the L&B. And is now doing a job for the WHHR.

any chance of the L&B putting their version of events forward?

I like to hear both sides of the argument

BUT one thing is clear, Gertrude is a quality bit of stuff, coped easily with whatever she was given at Statfold and I think that it will be brilliant at WHHR.

After reading his intelligent and well-crafted proposal for a North Wales Tramway, im sure Rennie is far too clever a chap to rejoin a few months later, under his real name, and then post in the same manner.

There have been 360 views since 9 PM last night probably 450 since yesterday morning.

I hope at least some of the people who have read it found this thread informative even if they are not fully in agreement on policy of publishing the details.

Thanks all for taking the time and reading it, I am quite happy if someone wants to post a response so long as it is acurate and truthfull, if its not I will respond with the relevant enlightenments in detail. To correct them or what they write .

What is here is here for the record no other reason if anyone wants to read it. It will remain there I have no intention of removing the posts I have made, although some people have indicated they might like me to.

I do not want to alter or exagerate what has been written, its just facts. Some people are suggesting ( elsewhere I have the email talking about it) dragging up issues on other topics, I would suggest that as very foolish to consider Don't forget I have all the evidence, as well as the knowledge on these subjects.

Live in peace an harmony and be silent is my advice to you who are perpetrators.

    Best Regards to All

    Hello everyone

It seems we might be talking about who owns what in the railway world and " WELLTROLLEYS" next!!

keep your eyes skinned for the saga of the other plant that the L&B will not release despite the fact they do not own any of it !!

The tread will be arriving shortly, in the mean time visit the L&B website Easter photos to view the item in question and see how they get on with modifying my equipment without any consultation or contact and not releasing it when asked to do so previously.

Where do you stand with the LAW in these cases what do you all think ??Put your thoughts up on here please ask questions only to happy to answer.

This should make a good debate. Whats the Managments case on this one then. It was Designed and built by me at totally my cost no L&B input whatsoever. I feel the saga of the RAIL CRANE is involved !!

The L&B has become an organisation that runs on other peoples projects by re inventing them as new look what we have acheived in our shed !! with a coat of paint. Best leave my kit alone.

    Jolly goood

TheEngineer, you can have your opinion about how the L&B treated the Gertrude project, but this hardly the place to have a big rant about how much you hate the L&B and associated negative comments.

This is not a forum for you bitching about the L&B! This is supposed to be about Gertrude and just Gertrude, not the associated complaining. Whatever has happened behind the scenes should stay there and not be splattered across public forums!! There are faaaar too many haters on NP and it makes me hate coming on here knowing someone will be bitching about something rather then enjoying our shared interest in steam and heritage railways! For goodness sake, get some perspective!!!

I note that several readers reflect on whats been writen as a rant they happen to be facts that do not fit neatly in the box.

I would not have classed it as a rant sorry, its a detailed description in my view , to alert some people to a state of affairs that existed and continues to exist.

For you (obviously the truth depresses you sometimes ) if you see a future post by me" TheEngineer" it could be a risk to read it, to avoid depression from reading it, pass it by.

Your not forced to read my posts, read some other that makes you feel good, however judging by the visits and the complaints that have been posted (pos and neg) a lot of people found it interesting to consider.

You say I hate the L&B sorry I do not , I have a lot of time for it ,and have put a lot into it over the years . I hate such a tranquil place being mutilated and people portraying modern low class bits of railway equipment being made out to be the L&B.

As far as hating the L&B or its management , I hate no one I am a very happy and positive minded person , yes I get annoyed especially with people who like to think they can just walk over others not neccessarily me I observe it happen to other people and it agrieves me .

Whats been writen is an awareness warning for others to consider . Some will totally dissagree. Some be in the middle and some see value in the advice.

    Thank you readers
