Was watching a vidoe in the Cotswolds and Hunslet 3883 is showed on Dynanometer Trials with the GWR Hawksworth coach. Apparently with FC Porta mods it whacked out 898hp! Sadly this loco is Lord Phil (see PRAG) but apparently it was fitted to many others, and also varying other types by Hunslet. https://www.martynbane.co.uk/modernsteam/ldp/austerity/rmarticle.htm is a fascinating article, but is there a list of locos, and types, and which locos are still fitted with equipment?
It's a little known, but remarkable story.
    Thanks in anticipation......hopefully!

Are you getting LD Porta and FC Porto Mixed up ?

Although the underfeed stokers we're problematic, the rest of the mods should still have been viable with the correct grate. Strikes me that of all opportunities for the 2nd generation steam techies to produce a Std Gauge ' demo' loco. restoring one of these is the most obvious...

I believe that Antwerp, the Austerity tank, is still fitted with the gear?

3450 has very limited mods. No GCPS, feed water heaters, small super heater and I am not sure even the lempor is correct in its nozzles.

Beatrice has one of my Lempors. I don't know if it even had GPCS origonaly.

'Fred' long-ex KWVR was one of the modified Hunselts, but had very little left apart from the over-fire secondary air nozzles as far as I can recall. We used to have to stuff these with wet newspaper when lighting up to stop smoke and flames damaging the paintwork. Was always a strong loco though, and fairly smoke-free.

And you were not tempted to resume experiments at the time?

At that time (early 70s) were far too busy growing the railway and moving to a more suitable loco fleet for the increasing passenger numbers. So no, we probably talked about it in the pub, but no money and no incentive back then.

My memory is clearly failing me though - looking at Martyn Bayne's site, 'Fred' still retained its Kylpor exhaust too. https://www.martynbane.co.uk/modernsteam/ldp/austerity/portaausterity.htm
