I am assuming that wasn't filmed at Kew...looks more like Statfold!

Looks good though! Atleast it means Hampshire gets Cloister back :D (Well Amberly anyways...is slightly closer)

Is Cloister due to leave Kew Bridge when the Wren arrives?

I wonder if Cloister would like a holiday in Wales???

She has already left as far as I am aware, pretty certain she has already arrived at Amberly though!

Moved to Amberley 25/01/09. Assume she's still there.

So why call it a new build? What was it and where did it come from?

But it *is* a new build!

The frames were built at Kew, and the rest of it finished off at Statfold.

Sorry I must have got the wrong end of the stick when talking to David at Kew bridge. I am sure he mentioned something about acquiring the engine from a BF slate quarry. :-k

That Wren was restored to steam by Alan Sybil at Amerton in 2001 and is part of Collection X. I don't belieave she has steamed much if at all since and is in the Store building at Capel Bangor on the VoR

The "acquired from a Blaenau slate quarry" isn't quite what it sounds like - it was an exhibit in the collection at Gloddfa Ganol, and was sold to the Rampton Trust when that collection was dispersed. It also had a period beforehand away from GG, working at the Bala Lake, where IIRC it was known as Drws Bach. It was the only steamable loco at GG, unless perhaps Steam Tram also was.

Cloister returned to HNRT due to it's 10 year boiler ticket renewal being due, yes the frames are the ones from Kew, Statfold have made a new boiler and all other parts required to build this new build Wren, the Wren should be in action at Statfolds openday on Saturday and then will go to Kew in April to pick up it's duties at home.

The Wren did not steam at Gloddfa Ganol, but the Steam Tram did.

It wasn't sold to the Rampton Trust, which doesn't own any locomotives, but to the Vale of Rheidol Railway, which is why it is kept at Capel Bangor. I don't know if it was steamed at Gloddfa Ganol but it was loaned to the Bala Lake Railway and ran there for a year ot two until its boiler certificate expired.

The VoR is owned by the PRT, so therefore the PRT does own both the VoR locos plus the 'collection X' locos.
